Romance is a community that has its law in the west central of White County, Arkansas. The community is situated about halfway between Rose Bud town, and the similarly unincorporated community of El Paso. Romance is located 16 miles or 26 km northwest of Beebe, and not more than 5 miles or 8.0 km east of Mount Vernon. The geographical location of the city is 35? 14' 24" N 92? 3' 60". Due to lack of accurate mapping basis, geographical and census authorities find it difficult to identify the exact boundary of the community.
According to legends, a teacher, who thinks the view from bluffs on the eastern side of the community is romantic, has named the community several years ago. The name of the community has been important in preserving the town's noticeable business, a small post office of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). The community post office is one of the numerous post offices in the USPS system that acquired attention because of its "love themed" names. It has received exclusive focus in 1990 as the location that first issued the stamp of the year in the USPS Love Stamp series. The community's post office is one of the popular post offices around the U.S. for card's postmark for wedding invitation, as well as Valentine's Day.
Romance's local government is part of the authority of White County's county judge. In addition, Romance is legislatively represented on state level within the Arkansas General Assembly as part of Senate District 12 and House District 49. Romance is part of the federal level's 2nd Congressional District of Arkansas.
Romance's terrain consists of ponds and small creeks all around the community, such as Cedar Creek on the south side of Romance. Romance's Clifty Creek flows throughout the centre of the community, while Bayou Des Arc flows close to the east. The southern part of Romance is considerably higher in altitude than other portions of the community. The general climate is fairly the same to that experienced in different place located at central part of Arkansas community, which include Little Rock, nevertheless vulnerable to winter's cool temperature.
Romance is found alongside two main state highways of Arkansas, Highway 5 and Highway 31. The Highway 5 is a major part of the highway continuing north to the state line of Missouri and south towards Cabot at United States Highway 67. The north-south highway, Highway 31, has a northern terminus at Arkansas 5 in Romance. It continues through Lonoke and Beebe to the southern terminus at the United States Highway 79. The White County Road Department manages most of the road which includes the Hilltop Acres serving as the centre of Romance and connecting to both Arkansas 31 and Arkansas 5.
Early education in Romance for children with age 5 is mainly home-based, although only a number of day care services can be located within a short distance drive from Romance.
